Frog skin treatment for diabetes? Oh yes!

Skin secretions from a south-american frog may prove to be a useful area of research in treating type 2 diabetes. This story - republished on the bbc website was covered at a recent Diabetes Uk conference. A compound isolated from the frog, which grows to 27cm as a tadpole before shrinking to 4cm in adulthood, stimulates insulin release. Please.. no toad licking jokes!!

I thought you were joking.. it is interesting to see whrere they are going with research though eh. Personally, I am still disappointed about the whole inhaled insulin thing last year.. i never even go to see it!

Yeah, i know.. they are looking in unlikely places these dasy.. which can only be a good thing. think the inhaled insulin thing is still ongoing - my understanding was that Pfizer pulled out of it - but the company who did the development work is going to continue with it. Pfizer were responsible for marketing and launch. I think there were other companies with similar products too.
